Creating product categories is a great way to help your customers find what they’re looking for quickly. Categories can organize products by type, brand, or any other grouping that makes sense for your store. Here’s how to add a new category to your Online Store:

Open Your Online Store Dashboard
Log in to your BuildMyStore account and go to the main dashboard where you manage your store.

Access the Catalog Section
On the left side of your screen, you’ll see a menu. Look for the Catalog option and click on it. This section is where you’ll manage all aspects of your categories, products and manage inventory.

Go to the Category Page
Once you’re in the Catalog section, you’ll see an option labeled Category. Click on Category to open the page where you can add, edit, or view your product categories.

Click on the Add Button
In the top right corner of the Category page, you’ll see an Add button. Click on it to start creating a new product category.

Enter Category Details

Now, fill out the information for your new category:
Category Name: Enter a name for the category (e.g., “Clothing,” “Electronics,” “Groceries”).
Category Description: Provide a short description that tells customers what they’ll find in this category.
Category Image: Upload an image that represents this category (like a picture of a product within this category).
Category Banner: At the bottom of the interface, you’ll see a Store Banner section. Here, you can upload a larger banner image for this category that will appear at the top of the category page.

Submit Your New Category
Once you’ve added all the information, double-check it to ensure its correct. Then, click the Submit button to save your new category.
After you submit, your new category will appear on the main category page, and customers will be able to browse items within this category in your store. You can repeat these steps to add as many categories as you need. This organization will make shopping easier for your customers and help them find products faster.
