Adding a custom domain helps you establish a unique identity for your business (e.g., www.yourbrand.com). Follow the steps below to connect your domain to your BuildMyStore website:
-
Step 1: Open Your Store Page
Log in to your BuildMyStore dashboard.
Click on your store name or icon to open the main store page.
-
Step 2: Open the Menu
On the left-hand side of the screen, you'll find a vertical navigation menu.
Click on the three-line menu icon (☰) if the menu is collapsed, to expand it.
-
Step 3: Navigate to Store Settings
In the menu list, find and click on "Store Setting."
This will open all store-level configurations and options.
-
Step 4: Click on General Setting
Under the Store Setting section, click on “General Setting.”
A new settings interface will appear on the right side of the screen.
-
Step 5: Locate the Custom Domain Field
Scroll through the list of settings in the General section.
Find the field labeled “Custom Domain.”
This is where you'll enter the domain name you've purchased (e.g., www.mystore.com).
-
Step 6: Enter Your Domain
Click inside the Custom Domain input box.
-
Carefully type your full domain name (include "www" if applicable).
Example: www.freshfruitsstore.com
Avoid typing incomplete domains like freshfruitsstore or http://
-
Step 7: Click on Apply
After entering the domain name, click the “Apply” button next to the field.
The system will now attempt to map your domain to your store.
-
Success!
If everything is set correctly (including your DNS settings), your custom domain will be connected to your BuildMyStore site.
-
Additional Notes:
-
DNS Settings:
You must update your domain’s DNS settings from your domain provider’s panel (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).
Set the A record to point to BuildMyStore’s IP (you can get this from support if needed).
Or, use CNAME to redirect to your store's subdomain.
-
Propagation Time:
DNS changes may take a few minutes to several hours to reflect globally.
